An elocution competition in the memory of Shikashan maharshi Sanskrit pandit Prin. M. R. Desai organized by Department of English, Gopal Krishna Gokhale College, Kolhapur on 29th January, 2016. The competition is aimed to memorize the visionary academic leader Prin. M. R. Desai and cultivate the soft-skills of communication in the students. The competition is an attempt to make the students aware with the efforts taken by the founder member of the institute and inspire them for the social welfare. The topics of the competition like Prin. M. R. Desai: Contribution to Literature, Barr. Balasaheb Khardekar: Contribution to Education, Mass Media and Contemporary Society, Can India become Sports Superpower?, Youth Participation in Politics, Science: Friend of Man, Natural Disaster, Tourism: Hope for Kolhapur were deliberately selected by the organizers that cover the significant issues of the present period.
